Do you have 8mm or Super8 film footage you'd like digitized? If so, you've come to the right place!
I offer high-resolution scanning of 8mm and Super 8 film, as well as cleaning, lubricating, editing, and colour-correction. Your film will be digitized into a beautiful, high-resolution digital video format that is easy to share and edit, and won't degrade over time.
Most places charge 30-50 cents per foot of scanned film, but my rate is 25 cents per foot. I can process any reel size, from 3 to 9 inches in diameter.
3" reels contain 50 feet of film (2-3 minutes long), so 50 feet x $0.25 per foot = $12.50 per 3" reel 4" reels contain 100 feet (5-6 minutes); 100 x $0.25 = $25 5" reels contain 200 feet (12-14 minutes); 200 x $0.25 = $50 6" reels contain 300 feet (19-22 minutes); 300 x $0.25 = $75 7" reels contain 400 feet (26-29 minutes); 400 x $0.25 = $100 9" reels contain 800 feet (52-60 minutes); 800 x $0.25 = $200
I charge $30 per hour of labour, and it takes about an hour to scan 50 feet of film. There is additional work required to trim and edit the footage, and more if you would also like me to colour-correctm, edit, clean, and/or lubricate it. A batch of 10 5" reels, for instance, would take approximately 40 hours of work to scan, edit, apply a basic colour-correction, and export as HD video files. So the cost to fully process those 10 5" reels, at $50/reel plus 40 hours of labour at $30/hour, would be $1700.
